Seeking a full-time position teaching art. I would like to utilize my artistic talents as well as mentorship skills when it comes to students. I make myself readily available to the college/university while still working with the community.

John A. Logan College, Carterville, Illinois (Part-time Faculty)
Course: Art Appreciation (2-4 Classes Each Fall, 2-4 Classes Each Spring, and 1-2
Classes Each Summer) (Experience teaching on-line classes.)
Responsibilities: Provide instruction on themes and purposes of art, visual elements, principles of design, history and methods of drawing and painting, history of photography, film, video, sculpture, and architecture. Assist students in appreciating and enjoying art. Instruct students in studio work related to each subject. Guide students in understanding the importance of art and art history. Show students the everyday relationship with art in their own lives through projects, films, and art in the community. Cultivate student’s awareness of material used by visual artists and help students to verbally communicate and write about art.
Course: Drawing I (1 Class Each Fall or When Needed)
Responsibilities: Provide a basic course stressing understanding of visual perception, drawing media and drawing skills. Emphasis is placed on attaining a basic level of drawing skill, using a variety of media, solving problems in a creative and original manner, and learning how three-dimensional objects can be rendered on the flat surface. Course includes vocabulary development, critical analysis activities, and reference to historic models of drawing. Have discussion on basic health and safety issues relative to the materials used.
Course: Art Preparation and Portfolio (Developed by DeSande R) (1 Class Each Spring
or When Needed)
Responsibilities: Prepare art and art education students with skills and materials they will need to apply to BA and BFA programs. Also provided is instruction on preparing canvases for painting.
Course: Art for Children (August 2002 - June2009) (Class was discontinued June 2009
due to curriculum changes.)
Responsibilities: Provide instruction on fundamentals of art, art elements, lesson plan formats, the language of art criticism and aesthetics, art history – research and teaching, and art across the curriculum. Teach the developmental stages and the appropriate function of art in area. Give students the opportunity to present materials and demonstrate processes and receive feedback from peers. Assist students in understanding the creative process as applied to basics of art education. Guide students in the practice of creating, presenting, and assessing the effectiveness of their art instruction. Help students personally grow in competence and confidence as an art instructor.
